Mold Crisis November 13, 2009
I am writing in reference to a former residence that my fiance, her 25 year old autistic son, and I lived in. I moved in with them in early 2008 to help manage the home and care for her disabled son. His health was declining and he had difficulty breathing, headaches, weight loss and muscle aches. After several months I started to experience similar symptons, plus others. The three of us felt terrible and I started missing days at work because I felt so bad. It was then that we noticed that many of our symptoms lessened or went away when we left the condo, but the symptoms came back when we returned to the condo.
I discussed our situation with Scott Lang, and hired him to perform a mold inspection at our residence. He took air and surface mold samples and found and photographed the source of mold growth; a water leak behind the upstairs shower wall, visible from the pipe chase downstairs. The mold samples were sent to an independent mold certified lab for analysis; the results yielded several species of harmful mold growing in large quanities, behind the interior walls of the condo.
I showed the mold report to our Doctor and She agreed that our symptoms could indeed be coming from the various mold growths inside our residence. The Son had developed several bacterial infections from breathing the toxic air in the condo. Scott provided us with an air purifier (a device which cleans the air of toxins) which made us all feel better in several days. We moved out of there shortly after that and I can honestly say that the air cleaner saved us further distress and sickness from the mold toxins.
We feel much better after getting out of there and I can say with all sincerity that MOLD SICKNESS IS REAL!!! If you have a similar situation where you feel sickly at home but feel better when you leave, then take it seriously. If you don't, the mold sure will. Thanks Scott!
